Leading Edinburgh independent school for girls, St. George’s, are proud to announce the opening of their very first Confucius classroom in May this year where students will learn Mandarin, amongst other modern languages, from an early age. Headteacher, Dr Judith McClure who is the Chairman of the Scottish China Education Network and is involved in continually building links with China and the Far East welcomes the new addition.
The school, where Scottish Highers, Advanced Highers and A Levels are offered, was the top school in Scotland last year in both A Levels and Advanced Highers grades A-B. 99% of their students go on to Higher Education including 5% to Oxbridge.
St. George’s offers a flexible and friendly boarding environment, which welcomes international students from many different countries. The boarding accommodation is on site in a friendly and warm house where a range of activities is on offer for students.
The focus of the school is very much on the individual student and their own progression. Opportunities for learning are varied and extra curricular activities are offered in a huge number of fields including music, sport, politics, drama, art, international exchanges, CCF and more. Many students follow pathways to Law, Science, Mathematics, English, History, Geography and Art at University either in the UK or abroad.
