Average cost of Capital home rises to £245,000

THE average house price in Edinburgh has risen 7.4 per cent in the last year, with higher value homes propping up the market as the price of one-bedroom flats virtually stalls. New year-on-year figures for the month of July show the average Capital home will now set a buyer back £245,415. (more…)

Green boost as tenements to run off the sun

SOLAR panels are set to be installed on the roofs of four Georgian tenement buildings in Edinburgh’s World Heritage Site. The plans, drawn up by the Lister Housing Co-operative, will see the panels fitted to the sloping roofs of buildings on Lauriston Place and Keir Street.The proposals have been developed by the housing group in association with Changeworks, the Edinburgh-based sustainable development organisation, and Edinburgh World Heritage. Hagglers bring down prices for city houses

Home buyers are cashing in on the housing slump in Edinburgh by haggling over fixed prices sales.
Almost two-thirds of all homes for sale in the Capital are now sold at fixed price. And of those, more than 60 per cent actually end up being sold for less. (more…)
